📌 Ketupat is a special and ubiquitous rice cake which is compressed and packed inside a palm leaf, woven into a diamond shape.
📌 It’s normally served during the Eid celebration. The taste is bland and should be eaten with other authentic Eid dishes such as rendang, kuah kacang and many more.
📌 Besides weaving the ketupat to a diamond shape, inserting the rice grains is definitely a challenge for me. So I would like to share with your some tips while preparing for ketupat nasi this EID. Let’s start:
🔹 Do’s:
📌 Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear, drain, then set aside to dry.
📌Fill up each ketupat casing with rice with about 1/3 or 40%.
📌 Tighten any gaps to secure the rice grain from coming out.
📌 Before cooking, tie 5 ketupat in a knot. This way, it’s easier to take them out once cooked .
🔹 Dont’s:
📌 Don’t use unwashed rice
📌 Don’t soak the rice. Just rinse and let it dry.
📌 Don’t fill up each ketupat casing with more than half the size. The rice will expand as it cook. Too much rice will make your ketupat hard.
📌 Don’t fill up each ketupat with rain grain less than 1/3 of the casing. Too little rice will make your ketupat too soft.
📌 Don’t leave any gap in between the weaves.
📌 Don’t cook your Ketupat individually or you will end up with the trouble to take them out one by one.
