JUNETEENTH 2024

I know a lot of people have their ideas, feelings and what have you about Juneteenth.

( And a few other "black" holidays)

"We aren't really free."

Naw we really aren't ...HOWEVER the accomplishments and sacrifices made by all our ancestors require reverence and demand celebration!

Yes Black History Month is EVERY month but JUNETEENTH is Black America's Carnivale, our JOU'VERT!

THIS is the time to dance and CELEBRATE!

I like to imagine that day in Texas was like the last dance scene in the Wiz....When the workers got to shed those heavy ugly suits and really step out and be the people they were meant to be.

It was all love light and joy....that's what Juneteenth should be. The day we get to REALLY show up and show out as a people.

SO instead of engaging in the blame game, asking those yeah but what about {insert ongoing problem in the community} questions or just being a negative presence in general, how about we all focus on the Joys that do come with being Black in America ?
