Halloween Horror Nights is my favourite time of the year and this year marks my 10th year that i’ve attended HHN! So here are my thoughts for this years HHN!

Sweet Home 🧟

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Sweet Home marks Universal Studios Singapore's third thrilling collaboration with Netflix, following the phenomenal success of Stranger Things (2018) and All of Us Are Dead (2023). This year, guests will have the chance to be fully transported into the haunting world of Sweet Home, exploring iconic scenes from Seasons 1 & 2 while encountering beloved fan-favorite characters. For fans who know the lore, the experience becomes even more awe-inspiring—less about the scares and more about the excitement of seeing these characters come to life!

Under The Castle by Team Wang Design 🎃

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Under the Castle brings to life Team Wang Design’s beloved characters, Pumpkie and Spookie! As you cross the drawbridge and enter the castle, you’ll be fully immersed in a journey that feels like one of the longest mazes in Halloween Horror Nights history. The experience is seamless from start to finish with every part of the maze being intricately themed to the castle setting, unlike houses from previous years where the transition between rooms can sometimes feel disconnected or abrupt.

Cursed Scrolls: Dynasty Of Darkness 🔥

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

After a decade, a haunted house with 3D effects returns! Step into the eerie underworld, where you’ll confront terrifying figures like the Jiang Shi, Hu Li, and the Scroll Master. The use of 3D effects and glasses adds a thrilling layer to the experience, heightening the sense of immersion. However, it can be a double-edged sword—while some may feel the 3D enhances the overall experience, others might experience discomfort or dizziness. Once the glasses are removed, the effects can no longer be seen, which can water down the experience.

Singapore’s Most Haunted: The Killings 🔪

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

This is by far the most terrifying house of the year. Set in an abandoned home guarded by two imposing lion statues, it immediately evokes an ominous atmosphere, reminiscent of the infamous 'Red House'. Having explored many abandoned buildings in the past, I can confidently say that the level of detail and realism in this house perfectly captures the eerie, unsettling feeling of stepping into an abandoned place — only here, you’re greeted with real scares around every corner.

Nether-land 🎉

Scare Factor: ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★

In previous years, the New York Zone was known for its large-scale, impressive sets. However, The Set of Nether-land does feel a bit minimal and scaled-down compared to past years. On the bright side, the main stage brings some seriously sick beats, creating a lively atmosphere. That being said, the scare factor is somewhat reduced, making this zone feel like a blend between a chill-out zone and a scare zone. this is further accentuated by the tiger soju booth located just opposite the main stage.

Vampire Alley 🩸

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★

Vampire Alley delivers the moment you pass through the imposing metal gates. The physical location and theming of Sting Alley itself enhance the overall ambiance, perfectly capturing the gritty, shadowy essence of a dark back alley. With its detailed sets, this zone stands out among others, featuring twisting walkways and actual rooms filled with bodies that you’ll navigate through, providing numerous opportunities for up-close scares. Overall this zone is more akin to a haunted house than a typical scare zone.

The Lost Kampong 🛖

Scare Factor: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★

Welcome to the darkest zone, both figuratively and literally. With dismembered body parts impaled on trees and dimly lit areas that create ideal hiding spots for many unexpected scares, this zone has an eerie atmosphere with presence of regional ghosts like the Pocong, Pontianak, and others lurking throughout the zone. The layout remains familiar from previous years but takes a fresh twist by leading you through the zone in a clockwise direction.

Dark Dreams 🛌

Scare Factor: ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Theatre shows make a thrilling return to Halloween Horror Nights at Pantages Hollywood Theatre after a 5-year hiatus since HHN9! This year, the spotlight is on the Dream Reaper as he embarks on his quest to find his next three nightmares. Packed with surprises, mesmerizing magic effects, and plenty of audience interaction, this show is one of the best in recent years and is an absolute must-see!

Viper Lounge 🍸

Scare Factor: ★ ★

Production Level: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

A hidden speakeasy bar where you can sip drinks and mingle with vampires in an exclusive, upcharge experience for $35/pax. Included in the admission are canapés and your choice of mocktail or cocktail. What sets this experience apart is the constant immersive action happening all around you—unlike previous dining experiences where the show occurred between courses, the interaction at Viper Lounge never stops. With fewer guests due to the upcharge, the atmosphere remains intimate and engaging, making it a truly unique and memorable.
