Finding a job while in nursing school to gain experience can be very difficult and intimidating when you have no experience. Here are some tips for building your resume and interviewing to help you land a job in the hospital!

🩺 Tip: Intro paragraph on resume 🩺

Include a small paragraph on the top of your resume explaining where you’re at in nursing school and your goals for the future.

This should be brief so only a 2-4 sentences! This shows the employers a little bit of who you are and where you want to go with your nursing career.

🩺 Tip: Be honest about your experience 🩺

When the interviewers ask about experience, be honest!

A good response to this would be: "While I don’t have any experience in the hospital or in patient care, my experience working as a ________ has taught me skills that would help me be successful in this position, such as time management, organization, and building relationships with customers."

🩺 Tip: Relevant experience on your resume 🩺

When listing out your experience, list the most relevant experience first!

For example, if you’re applying for a job in pediatrics but have no experience working in a healthcare setting, list things like babysitting or youth coach before waitress or retail positions.

Also offer a brief explanation of what your responsibilities included in each of these roles and how it would apply to the position you’re applying to!
