my first hermes bag ✨ spoiler: it's a picotin! 🧡

hey there zesties 🍋 apart from being a big chanel fan girl, i've started venturing into my hermes journey in hopes of one day scoring a B & K (ps my holy grail bag is a mini k!!) as i embark on this journey, i thought i'd share some information about my experience shopping at hermes sg 🫶🏼

🧡 i was offered this picotin earlier in the year. though it was never really a bag i saw myself buying, i didn't have the guts to turn it down (who knows how long the hermes deities would punish me if i turned it down!!!) however, since it was in gold (aka the hermes term for "brown") with silver hardware, i was still open to getting it. after purchasing it, i really truly fell in love with it. though my future posts to come, you'll come to realise i own many mini/small bags that barely fit anything - but the picotin is different, the picotin is S P A C I O U S ! ✨ what a refreshing change 😂

🧡 disclaimer, i do have a purchase history with hermes, ranging from SLGs, orans in various colours and lots of their fashion jewellery. what i understand and have observed is that it's almost impossible for new walk-in customers to purchase bags from hermes in sg

🧡 the picotin is a super versatile bag

carry it to the supermarket (many people on xhs call it the 菜篮 aka vegetable basket lol), carry it to run errands, or carry it out on a nice lunch date! the leather is also soft and very forgiving - it doesn't get scratched easily and the softness allows you to feel comfortable carrying it on your arm, as opposed to stiff leather bags that do not sit nicely on your arm/shoulder)

🧡 is it worth it?

well, i'd say the opportunity cost for purchasing a picotin is quite high. it isn't as affordable as some other brands out there, but i'd say it's a rite of passage in my hermes journey and i'm okay with that 🤗 i also love the fact that the brand isn't screaming at you and it's a more iykyk kind of luxury - quiet luxury - as is the trend these days
