Happy Fathers’ Day to all the Dads out there, Happy Fathers’ Day to all the kids out here who had to parent themselves.

You deserve to celebrate yourself too.

Not everyone has a great family background, not everyone’s parents are around anymore. Occasions like this special day marks as a reminder for some of us to stay kind to others, we don’t know their story.

Life may not be easy without having a father figure around.

We had to Google how to fix the pipes, fixing the aircon, how to do our finances etc. It took us awhile to figure out, even to this day we’re still learning.

Some of us have fathers who rarely show emotions or his presence was inconsistent or chaotic.

Today, some of us might be grieving for a father we never had or desperately want.

Remember that you can love your parents and still choose yourself. You can still love your parents, even if the way they give love to you isn’t how you’d want it to be.

You can decide to not love your parents, if they were extremely toxic or abusive.

If you made the difficult decision to choose yourself, becoming the cycle breaker of the family, I hope you know that it is a courageous decision to make.
