Yup, I hated running. But since the time I’ve hated it, it’s been almost 2 years of running 😂😅

Reasons why I continued running:

1. For health reasons

Since 2019 health scare + 2020 post surgery, I learnt not to take my health for granted. I was looking for a sport to start asap and chose running instead. I used to jog so slowly till I gave up even before reaching 2km but gradually over the years it’s no longer about the distance/speed but how consistent I was to keep myself and health in shape.

2. Running is free

I’ve signed up for classpass and been to classes like hot yoga, barry’s, ally spin… But honestly I felt that I could sweat more from running. I was counting the calories burnt yes, but also the fact that running is free it’s definitely a ++++. I initially committed to $59/month classpass membership but have now dropped to $18/month just to go for classes occasionally on top of my usual running outdoors. It’s fun to mix it up a little with classes but running is also flexible and you don’t have to travel far to exercise.

3. I LOVE FOOD!!!!!!

I love eating and I love food, just like any other normal person. But if there’s only input + no output, I’m gonna jam up my health man 😂 Which brings me back to reason no. 1 of doing it for my health. Exercising before/after indulging in my meal plans for the weekend makes me more assured… I’m definitely not gonna burn off 100% of what I’m going to eat or have eaten, but as the saying goes “got run better than no run” hehe 🤓

4. Endorphins + good mood + strengthens your mind

I used to be so grouchy and impatient at work. Doing difficult tasks at works frustrates me so much but ever since I started running, I got reminded that running was already physically tough which I managed to endure/overcome, a tough task at work ain’t gonna bring me down mentally. So actually, running helps to strength your mind 🧠

I hope the reasons why + tips may encourage you to pick up running!!! It sucks to start off at first but trust me, the long term effects are really worthwhile 🫶🏻
