How did YOU break in your Docs?

Help!

My amazing husband bought me my very first pair of Doc Martens for my birthday! I’ve worn boots similar to them in the past so I figured I would be okay, and would surpass the curse.. but I did not. I have intense blisters or what was blisters on the inner parts of my ankles kind of where the seams sit.. is there anything to prevent this? or assist with it?
