My First Time making Macarons!

I made macarons for the first time this weekend!

I made vanilla bean macarons with a vanilla bean French buttercream filling using Thomas Keller’s recipe from his Bouchon Bakery cookbook.

This was my first time making macarons and I feel like I had a very successful first attempt. The cookies are setting now, so I haven’t enjoyed a full one yet, but I tasted some pieces from the shells and they were so good!

I had two shells that turned out almost perfect, with a nice foot and flat top. So I have one macaron that looks gorgeous!

….and 19 that look questionable 😂

I think it’s just going to take some time to really figure out the best batter consistency, piping technique, and oven temperature to get more glamorous results. But they seem like they’ll taste good anyways!

I’m looking forward to enjoying these with some coffee or tea to bring in the fall weather! 🍂
