A couple weeks ago I finally got a Peloton! This is a purchase I’ve been thinking about for a while, but I finally made the jump and I’m so glad I did.

I’m going to break this up into a few categories.

💲Cost

Peloton bikes are an expensive item ($1.5k new) with a monthly fee of $40 to have access to the Peloton library. I know some people get sticker shock about the price, but as someone who used to spin in person at $170 a month, in my perspective, it’s a good deal.

Even then, I appreciate a discount so I bought a bike used off Facebook for $500. I bought the regular bike, not the bike plus because I thought the upgraded features really weren’t worth it.

From a price perspective I’m actually really happy. I lucked out on a good deal, (and I absolutely recommend buying used) but if needed, I probably would have bought it at full cost eventually, rather than joining a new studio (mine had closed down).

🥳 Experience

I was worried that the in-class experience wasn’t going to feel as fun and engaging on Peloton than in-person but I haven’t been disappointed. The live classes really do feel like you’re in the studio and you can high five other riders and view the live leaderboard.

I’ve added friends to my account and did a scheduled group ride together with some work colleagues and I love that interactive feature.

The instructors are funny and inspiring and their playlists are top notch.

🚲 Equipment

The bike itself seems really well made with quality parts. It’s as comfortable as you’d expect a spin bike to be 😂. The resistance knob makes smooth adjustments. Overall, no complaints, I’m actually pleasantly surprised; it rides just like a studio bike.

I have had to make some adjustments to how the bike is sitting on the ground, but it’s reasonable to have to make some setup tweaks over time. Nothing too major.

I did swap out the pedals, because I have a pair of super comfortable shoes that I love that use SPD cleats. So I can’t speak on the standard Peloton shoes/pedals.

✅ OVERALL

I’m super happy with my purchase, it’s definitely something I’ll be using regularly for the foreseeable future. I’d already done spin for a while, so my perspective may be different than other people interested in Peloton, but I hope you found this review helpful!
