Traveling with baby? Don’t leave home w/o these!

I’m back from my short overseas trip with my 9month old to Johor Bahru (JB) ! It was our very first trip with baby and as anxious first time parents, we overpacked for the trip.

But based on this experience, now I know what are definitely must haves for me! Good things must share, so here are 6 things I’ll definitely bring along for my next trip ON TOP of my regular diaper bag must haves!

1) Disposable bibs - As parents of babies who drool non stop you’ll know that bibs are a staple in their wardrobe. But the problem with wet cloth bibs is that they grow mould if they aren’t washed quickly.

Cue disposable bibs! Great solution for when you don’t have access to washing & drying your dirty bibs!

2) Portable Pump (for exclusive pumping mommies) - Yes unfortunately vacation isn’t really a vacation for pumping moms who still have to get in their hours of pumping done to avoid clogged ducts/ engorgement.

As an oversupply mom, it was essential for me to bring along a pump that worked well enough as my hospital grade spectra S1. And that was the spectra s9! Same output and no clogged ducts yay! P.S I brought 1 of each, since I didn’t have 2 S9s.

3) Portable Wash Basin & UV Sterilizer&Dryer

Even while on vacation the washing, sterilizing and drying of milk bottles and pump parts still needs to get done. But it’s super convenient with these two must have items.

The wash basin is collapsible so fits easily into any luggage space. And can hold quite the number of items. I just dump them all in there and wash in a batch.

After washing, I’ll put them two by two into the UV sterilizer & dryer that’s super small and portable. Items are dried and sterilized in ~ 15mins so I just replace with next set of items that I need. Even my husband was impressed!

4) Portable Kettle

Sooooo essential because I just don’t trust the hygiene of the hotel’s kettle. Sorry not sorry. Plus mine folds down into such a tiny compact size that it’s barely any luggage space.

What do I use it for? Boiling hot water to sterilize my milk bottles, pump parts, baby’s teethers and fill up my thermos flask to warm up baby’s milk on the go!

5) Travel Cot

Okay, this may not be a must have for everyone depending on how your baby normally sleeps at home. My bub always sleeps in her own cot, so we were not about to change things up on vacation.

We got this portable travel cot (super easy to set up & keep away) where she napped and slept perfectly well in! Yeps, we both got easily >7hours of uninterrupted slee each night even with baby being in a strange new location. Ahem not 8h because we were busy watching shows haha. Definite win for us!
