This pothos has over 20 stems, so if I put it in the same spot with the second pothos, it could grow over 1,000 leaves per year! I know it sounds incredible, but it's true! 🙂⠀
⠀
The pothos I brought from Florida (the one next to the window) has been growing 1 leaf per week ever since I've brought it. I've already pruned it and gave cuttings to friends and it's time to prune it again.⠀
⠀
I added a cutting from the first pothos into the same pot and it has been growing at the same pace of 1 leaf per week. ⠀
⠀
The amount of light needed for this is much higher than just 3,000 lux though. It was a gloomy day at the time I recorded the video, but indirect light here is usually over 7-8,000 lux. Plus there is a lot of direct light/direct sun which increases the light to 40,000-100,000 lux. ⠀
⠀
Of course, if you want this speed of growth, other factors need to be good - porous, oxygenated soil, proper watering (water when the top half of the soil dries out, if unsure, go on the side of underwatering), regular repotting (once a year), proper PH, potentially occasional fertilizing (I use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro 9:3:6).⠀
⠀
Why don't I move the pothos to the brighter spot and get those 1 000 leaves? I don't want all of my plants to grow that fast. Everything I have has already doubled or trippled in size since I moved here 2 years ago (monstera, thaumatophyllum bipinatifidum, alocasia frydek, alocasia macrrorhiza, peace lily, syngonium...). I have no idea how I will move when the time comes 🙂⠀#mrhouseplant #plants #houseplants ⠀
