Explore Joo Chiat with Me ✨

Being a Singaporean that has been living in the east side for 26 years, I have never been to this side of singapore. Recently, a friend of mine recommended this area to me and I fell in love with it instantaneously! I decided that this shall be my new favourite spot to hang out with friends in the weekends. Why have I not discovered this place earlier? I must be living under a rock 😝

Things to explore in Joo Chiat:

- Murals

There are multiple murals painted on the buildings which adds so much life to the neighbourhood.

- Peranakan buildings

Everywhere in this area has Peranakan houses. So full of heritage😍 theres’s even a stretch of pastel painted row of colourful peranakan houses for you to take pictures of! But these houses have residents living in them, so we must be mindful to not cause inconvenience to them.

-cafes

There are loads of cafes in Joo Chiat. The one we visited was Brawns and Brians. The food is amazing and price is so worth for its portion! Heard that they specialise in coffee but i didn’t order coffee here because I wanted to try coffee elsewhere. Definitely will come back again for the coffee! ☕️

- Lifestyle shops

lots of shops selling homeware (Sojao) and really cute handmade souvenirs and trinkets at Cats socrates! I definitely enjoyed my time there!

I only had a few hours to explore this area. But I definitely see myself coming back here more often because it’s just so calming and not filled with locals and tourists.
