I don’t know about yall, but in Louisiana, a gumbo is cooked when it get cold and on holidays. This Christmas I made my in laws a good ole chicken gumbo and this is what I used:
👩🏻 Needs 🍳
1. Meat- preferably dark meat!
2. Homemade roux- you want a good Cajun roux which consists of vegetables oil and flour. Creole roux is butter and flour, but you wanna use vegetable oil and make sure it’s colored brown to dark!
3. The hold trinity- chopped onion, green pepper, and onion pepper. Parsley is also a must.
4. Eggs- this is optional. Boiled eggs in a gumbo is the best if you like eggs 🥚
