Louisiana Creoles 🐊⚜️

Switching up my content a little bit. It’s been requested that I post more about my ethnicity so I made these little infographics. Feel free to share with others so we can eliminate misinformation. I do want to share a few notes about some popular communities that fall under the umbrella of Louisiana Creoles.

Cajuns: People with Acadian ancestry from the French Refugees Canadian Colony Acadia during the 17th & 18th century. {Pre-Louisiana Purchase}

Isleños: People from Spanish Colonial Canary Island 🏝️ who came to Spanish Colonial Louisiana. (That’s also where our Asian Creoles come from)

Haitian Creoles: Yes people from Haiti came over during French Colonial Louisiana but they are considered Louisiana Creoles not Haitian. The Haitian Creoles today in Louisiana that maintain that identity are refugees from the Haitian Revolution after the purchase.

Where did our African Heritage come from:

- Africans from the Senegal River basin which include Senegalese, Bambara, Fon, Mandinka, and Gambian Peoples and later Guinean, Yoruba, Igbo, and Angolan Peoples.

Fun Fact: New Orleans today is culturally the most African of American cities.
