How Long It Took For Me To Make Money On YouTube

I have been posted on YouTube since July of 2019. Of course there have been times I have been more consistent than others. But YouTube is currently my full time job and primary source of income! However, it took a long time to get here and I still have a good journey ahead of me, in the best way.

To get monetized and have google adsense pay you for putting ads on your videos, you need to hit 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours. I achieved both of these in July of 2020. So it took me almost exactly a year to apply to be monetized. I got approved and have been receiving monthly checks since! However, you must pass $100 in ad revenue in order to receive your pay out. So I probably did not actually get a real paycheck till August or September of 2020.

Another huge part of income for creators is brand deals! I signed my first real contract for a paid brand deal in April of 2021. So this was closer to my 2 year mark of being on YouTube. It was about a year and 9 months since I uploaded my first video. It was actually a year long contract, not just a one off brand deal. It was with a jewelry brand who I still love and still wear their items daily.

I definitely did not start creating YouTube videos for the money. You do not always get paid for a really long time from when you start! However, I love it so much.

So there is a bit of insight for anyone who is interested in the YouTuber world.
