Walking pads have been super hyped on the internet the past year, and for good reason! But are they actually worth it?
I have had one for about a year and here are my pros and cons of using a walking treadmill pad with my standing desk so I can walk while I work:
Pros (there are quite a few obvious ones):
-burn more calories throughout the day
-get in lots of steps (even one hour of walking while you work makes a HUGE difference in your daily step count)
-multitasking two productive things (exercise and work)
-it's small and thin so you can move it when you need and put it away somewhere without taking up too much space
-since its a slow walk, I don't get super sweaty when I am not trying to be
Cons:
-some tasks I simply cannot multitask during! Some work things may not be appropriate to walk during so you either have to go to a different spot, or move your treadmill and replace it with your chair
-my arms do get uncomfortable being held out for long periods of time, it can be awkward
-to be honest, sometimes I just want to sit! It is great to push me to walk more, but it can be hard when you really just want to chill
Overall, it really is a super great product. I have been slacking using it lately so I am currently trying to get back into it.
