Sometimes rest is the most productive thing you can do. If you’re on a fitness journey and are super dedicated to your goals, it might be easy to overtrain. You might think the more you workout, the faster you’ll see results. That is not always true!

Rest days are SO important and SO valuable.Working out creates tiny tears in your muscle tissues and puts stress on your body. This sounds worse than it is! However, you need to rest in order for your muscles to heal and grow back together. When they heal, they are coming back stronger. So you’ll be able to do more challenging workouts in the future and your current workouts should get easier and easier.

Also skipping rest days could lead to injuries! Then you’ll be off even longer and who wants to deal with an injury?!

Active rest days that include light exercise like leisurely walks are great. I love to move my body daily for my mental health. Walks allow me to move without putting much stress on my body and still allowing me to recover.
