🕯️Simple candle & color magic 🪄

One of the most basic ways I know to perform magic is by using a candle. The fire element can be so powerful as it is passionate, intense and powerful (much like those born under its astrological correspondence Sag, Leo & Aries).

Seven day candles are one of those magical tools I usually have on hand. You can get them at most metaphysical shops (usually expensive 😒) or places like Walmart. You can absolutely find many colored candles at the thrift store as well but sometimes used which is eh. So I’ll let you in on my little secret - get them is from the dollar tree (I mean the $1.25 tree, thanks inflation). I repeat this all the time - you do not need to spend a lot of money on spiritual items! Any candle can work but I love these 7 day candles from the dollar tree because they have no scent, they come in SO many colors, they can be melted down and repotted and they burn so so beautifully. Amazing for timed spells (7 days worth). I don’t do as much candle work as I used to with a baby and animals so I get creative and dress my candles with oils, herbs, crystal grids and usually burn by the window. If you can’t get your hands on these, something like birthday candles work just as well! Those are so good to travel, make spell jars or offerings!

Simplest way I can put this is just lighting any candle can be so spiritual. You clean your entire home and light a candle after - she is the vibe, she is the moment. Lighting a candle for a bath, the bedroom, smoke cleansing, divination, offerings, the scents, it just sets the whole mood. The color of your candle can also play a huge role in the magical intent and strengthen your spell/manifestation. We’re going to touch upon some color magic correspondences and how I use them!

Black, white and red are usually the colors I keep handy. I literally grabbed a black candle and some garlic from my stash yesterday because I knew I needed some extra spiritual protection - fast. I immediately felt better lighting it to banish away negative energy I had been experiencing (let me tell you someone really dragged me lol).

Anyways, what I wrote is very very basic and there’s so much more to know about color magic and candles. I do hope this quick guide empowers you to try it for yourself. Keep in mind this is what I use these colors for but there are many more ways you can use them depending on different cultures or practices:

🖤 Black: Protection, banish, remove, uncrossing, unblocking, warding, reversals & to conjure the spirit of Saturn.

❤️ Red: Love, lust, passion, speed, strength, to bring in the fire element & to conjure the spirit of Mars.

🤍 White: Cleanse, heal, purify, connection, ancestor work, spirit communication & a blank slate color when I have nothing else (for example protection if I don’t have a black candle).

I use a ton of color magic in my practice (wearing colors, eating colorful foods, in ritual work) as it honestly is simple, effective and makes so much sense to me. Colors like💚 green for $$, luck, prosperity the earth element or 💙 blue for the water element, calmness, cleansing & tranquility. So I’ll keep an array of candles handy around my house or at different altar spaces (blue & white on my sea altar of course).
