How I Got Accepted into my Program

My dream school rejected me, so I came back for round two. This time I was more prepared!

1. Competitive GPA

I retook some prerequisite courses so I could get an A instead of a B. Some schools are really particular about your GPA. For transparency I applied to my first school with a 3.3, I got accepted to my current program with a 3.7

2. HESI/TEAS

I didn’t have to take the HESI or a TEAS test for my first school. I did for my current program. I scored a 83 because to be real I didn’t sign up until last minute and had one day to study 💀💀💀 Please sign up well in advance.

3. Community Service

Nursing schools love a well rounded applicant. When I applied to my first program, I had no service hours. When I applied to my current program I had 25, not much, but it’s great to have something!

4. Work Experience

I was a part time PCA when I applied to my first program. That obviously did not go well. I went back and got my CNA and busted my butt to get 820 hours of experience. If I felt like anything secured my spot in my current program, it’s time with patients

There’s no problem with going for round two! Hit them harder the second time!
