4 financially smart things to do

If you're lost about how to make financial decisions, here are 4 simple things you can do!

1. Save 1 month's worth of expenses.

This is called an emergency fund! It's an important buffer to have in case things go wrong (like all the layoffs right now cough cough).

2. Set up another source of income like a HYSA.

A HYSA stands for a high yield savings account. You can take your emergency fund from Tip 1, put it that account, and you get to make a little extra in interest every month!

Other people could do a side hustle and etc., but if you want something simple, bank interest is it. I personally think it's cool that our phone bill can be paid off with my monthly interest.

3. If you can't afford it, don't go into debt for it.

Credit cards and BNPL has grown in popularity, but the financially healthy thing to do is to swipe only if you had that cash sitting in your bank anyway!

4. Your network is your net worth.

A cliche, I know, but making friends and connections has made such a big difference in the opportunities available to me.
