Pros and Cons of installing Balcony Decking 🔨

One of the best reno decision we have made for our house will definitely be installing balcony decking. It really elevated and completed the entire look, making the area really cosy and aesthetic.

With first hand experience, I’m here to share what I like and not like about it so hopefully it helps you in deciding whether this is worth the investment for your new home 🫶🏻

Let’s start with the good…

✔️ Aesthetically pleasing. It really amps up the look of your home, giving it a modern, zen and cosy vibe

✔️ The deckings have rough surfaces, and provides enough friction to avoid slips and falls (tiles can get really slippery on rainy days)

✔️ Durable

✔️ Comfortable to walk on

✔️ Many colours to choose from to cater to our colour theme

The bad…

❌ Maintenance - probably the only issue I have with it. It’s hard and a chore to remove the decking to clean what’s underneath. We usually just do it once in a loooong while.

Mine pictured here is composite decking (blend of plastic and wood)! It’s said to be more resistant and also a more affordable option than entire wood decking.
