How I got signed to a Modeling Agency

Whatever your dreams are it’s time to go after them! For me I have always wanted to be model in a major market. We are lucky in the sense that nowadays modeling agencies are actually looking for diversity. Getting started can be intimidating but remember we all possess rare qualities that make ourselves stand out!

1. To get started you must determine if you would like to work as a freelance model or work as an independent model through an agency. The biggest difference is that an agency will help with your image, castings, rate of pay, and keeping you safe! As a freelance model you are responsible for everything yourself. I wanted to work with an established agency to increase my productivity. Only you can decide what’s best for you!

2. Determining what market you want to work will determine what type of agency you want to work with and even what jobs you want to be casted for. There are several different markets such as high fashion, runway, commercial, fitness, beauty, and print to just name a few.

3. GET COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA! Modeling is not as simple as being beautiful you must understand how to move in front of a camera for the photographer to capture the best shots possible. Finding various photographers to collaborate with will only benefit you and get ready to be a professional. You do not need to spend thousands of dollars looking for the best photographer but look for a reputable photographer that makes you comfortable.

4. Now that you are comfortable in front of the camera it’s time to submit yourself to agencies! Find an agency that you want to work with and review their requirements to make sure you fit what they are looking for at that time. Do not change yourself for an agency, but find an agency that’s fit for you. Once you find the agency, complete the application online or head in for your open call audition. Remember as a model you are self employed and the agency is your partner!!
