I only read for fun in med school 🤫

So this year as a part of my wellness journey while in medical school I decided to commit to reading at least 10 books before the year is up. I personally don’t read school material at all so reading is only for leisure around here lol. I did it for multiple reasons and I’ll share them with you!

Get away from tech 😴

So I opted to buy physical books instead of using a Kindle or ipad because I already spend so much time on devices. Whether it’s due to my crippling screen addiction or the hours upon hours at a computer screen for studying, I know that I need to find intentional ways to get away from screens. I find reading super enjoyable and it gives my eyes rest!

Self-Care 🧖‍♂️

Honestly, sometimes studying medicine can be very bleak and sometimes depressing, On top of the crazy hours, learning about terminal illnesses and working with really sick patients can take a toll emotionally and mentally. I like to look at reading as an escape from reality that lets me recharge and reset.

Connect with friends 🫂

Funnily enough, I feel like all my friends starting to pick up reading at around the same time. We have mini book clubs at school and amongst one another and love talking to each other about books as we read them.
