Best winter activities in Rovaniemi (Finland) ⛷️

if youre deciding on what to do in Finland, specifically Rovaniemi, these are some activities you can consider:

1️⃣ reindeer farm visit & sleigh ride 🛷

• the farm owner walked us around and shared with us the farm’s history

• fed the reindeers and went on a quick sleigh ride

• gathered around a fireplace and drank Finnish tea

• received a little certificate for the activity/experience there

2️⃣ ski trekking ⛷️

• the most do or die activity ive ever done

• the guide/instructor brought us to the mountains and taught us how to gear up

• started off learning how to walk with the skis on flat ground (with THICK layers of snow) then proceeded to walk uphill and ski on gentle slopes

• had a small (marshmallow and sausage) bbq meal while chilling in a tipi tent

• the ultimate experience after the whole trek: skiing on our own down a steep slope with many trees around (i almost knocked into one)

3️⃣ canyon & frozen waterfalls tour ❄️

• had the most engaging guide; hiked for about 4-5 hours

• thrilling experience sliding down slopes and climbing up steep paths

• had a quick meal by a fireplace

4️⃣ snowman world ⛄️

• this place is actually p small; there was a mini skating rink that we skated on, also explored the ice igloos that had furniture made of only ice

• highlight there was snow tubing

5️⃣ northern lights chase on snowmobile 🌌

• it was SOOO COLD since the activity started at night

• there were 3 snowmobiles (around 10 seats each) and people were lowkey fighting for the ones with no shelter so they could to see the aurora without obstruction

• sadly we didnt manage to see any 😭 but being able to sit on a snowmobile and experience the chase was p fun on its own
