Should You Learn Spanish or French?

When deciding between learning Spanish or French, here are some things that you can consider:

Travel – Spanish will come in handy in the majority of Latin America, Spain, and the United States as well as it is one of the top spoken languages in the U.S. French will come in handy in central Europe as well as most of Africa and Canada.

Job Opportunities – both languages are crucial in international practices as well as translating needs. However, Spanish is spoken by a greater amount of people and can be used in countries in Latin America, if that is a location that you are interested in doing business in. French is an official language of many international organizations as well and comes in just as handy in immigration/humanitarian work specifically involving Africa.

Learning Resources – luckily for prospective learners, both Spanish and French have a plethora of resources for learning, especially digitally. However, consider where you currently live and who you have access to. If you live in the U.S., the chances of you at least hearing Spanish on a day to day is high! French may require some more digging, however, if you live in certain parts of Canada then it would be a great place for you to practice consistently.
