Places Korang TAKTAHU in Thailand!

We are all familiar with Hat Yai, a Thailand bordering city with Malaysia, but have you heard of Betong? Located next to the state of Perak, Betong is full of hidden gems ready to be explored!

To make your way to Betong, you will have to go to the Pengkalan Hulu Immigration (Bukit Berapit) near Gerik. If you bring in your own car, don’t forget to get insurance! There are plenty of insurance shop along the way to the immigration.

✨ Gunung Silipat

If you are a fan of “sea of clouds”, make your way to Gunung Silipat. There are a few entrance. I went through the Punapa Gunung Silipat entrance. You will have to pay an entrance fee of 50 baht & breakfast for 100 baht. (150 baht ~ RM 20). The easy hike only takes 30 minutes. Punapa Gunung Silipat is also a campsite. If you don’t hike, you can go to the Skywalk Ayerweng, where there is a skywalk with a view of the sea of clouds!

✨ Chaloem Phra Kiat King Rama IX Waterfall

This amazing waterfall requires 10 minutes walk from the parking lot. Entrance is free. Dip your toes in the cold water or have a picnic there! Up to you!

✨ Betong Town

Betong Mongkollit Tunnel, World’s Larget Mailbox, Betong Clock Tower are all in the city center. Make sure you drive through and drop by at these attractions! Get your hands on the local food as well. A restaurant I’d like to recommend is Hafiz Tomyam. Don’t forget to visit the local 7-eleven for plenty of snacks & Amazon cafe for mouth-watering beverages!

Tips

⭐️ Check border opening and closing time.

Malaysian border operating hours 0600-2200.

Thailand is 1-hour behind from Malaysian-time

⭐️ Check the requirement for bringing in vehicle. Geran kereta is a must!

⭐️ Most of the places accepts card & touch n go for payment. But don’t forget to bring in cash for emergencies.

⭐️ Halal food is easy to find. If there is none, you can always go to any 7-eleven and find the halal CP burgers and dumplings.
