How I Use My iPad in Academia ✍🏻

I bought my iPad Air (2020) for my masters studies in Neuroscience!

I loved using it for taking digital notes, although I will say that I was slower at writing with the iPad pencil, than typing, so I wish I had gotten a keyboard for my iPad. I also couldn't read my handwriting very well afterwards 💀

But there are so many other ways I used my iPad at university and in grad school, so if you're thinking of buying one, this post is for you!

🗓️ I love to plan! I used my iPad for scheduling events and deadlines in my iCalendar app, as well as Notion. It helped me stay organised during the academic year, as well as have all of my digital notes on hand, because I kept them on Notion, and could refer back to it anytime I needed it.

📚 Reading research articles on the iPad and annotating them was much easier, than on my laptop. If I had a PDF file of the articles and class readings, I would open them on Apple Books and annotate with the free tools that they have integrated in the app. Later, I discovered and used PDF Element by Wondershare, because it also has many great functionalities for annotating your readings!

I would also read e-books on my study breaks or while commuting to campus!

I love the iPad Air 4th generation (2020) model because it has the 2nd gen Apple Pencil, and I also used it for content creation, but I do know that they now offer more affordable iPad options for students, and if you enjoy taking digital notes, I think you would use your iPad a lot!

I do recommend buying the Paperlike screen protector for your iPad if you want to take notes! It makes the screen feel like writing on paper, which is much more comfortable for your hand!
