Last night my husband asked me to look at something on his back to see what it was...thinking it would be some weird bump or a mole I was a little surprised when I saw that it was tick..a tick that had clearly been there for a little bit-we think since Saturday...so about 5 days!
Now you have to keep in mind things like this don’t phase him- he’ll tell you how he used to pull ticks off him all the time when he was little as he always played in/by the creek which was by a wooded area
However- now knowing what we know about ticks & the nasty 💩 they carry we (well I 🤣) am prepared to take care of tick bites so I can hopefully prevent that nasty 💩from causing a problem and it’s not his pull and go solution😜
First- remove the tick with a tick remover tool or tweezers pulling upward making sure to have the entire tick- be careful not to squeeze or crush as you don’t want the stomach contents going into the skin
Second- wipe with rubbing alcohol or wash well with warm water and soap- dry well
Third- put lavender essential oil directly on the bite (neat/not diluted) and about 1/2 inch diameter around the bite every 30-60 minutes (obviously this may not be possible but do as often as you are able)
Fourth- Colloidal Silver, Ledum 200C, astragalus (not recommended for late-stage lyme), samento or banderol can be taken so the nasty 💩 from the tick doesn’t cause a problem
You always want to keep an eye on the bite for the next couple of weeks as well as notice of any symptoms of Lyme & friends- we don’t run to antibiotics for every bite or bump but they can be used for acute Lyme should it be necessary
Don’t forget worry & panic will not help-most people don’t see a tick or a rash and Lyme & friends are spread by a lot more then ticks🕷🦟 -also there is no such thing as tick season they are hearty vectors and are still around in colder weather
💚
ps-tick kits are available on the MMW website!
Bonus: making a paste of bentonite clay & 1 drop of tea tree & lavender essential oil can be helpful in preventing the nasties as well- I will make this paste and apply a few times over the next couple days
