Posting on college class pages📱

Sure, writing out college apps and waiting to see if I got in was strenuous. Waiting to hear about scholarships and financial aid was even worse. But the real horror in my college experience thus far was posting on the college class pages. Still, Im so glad I did it, here’s why and some of my observations:

-> It's impossible to sum yourself up in a short paragraph. And so embarrassing to try and do so!!! Still, I’m happy I included details about myself and my interests even if It was a little mortifying. B

Descriptive bios like that made it easy for me to start conversations with others and seemed to help others reach out to me. The Shakespeare detail seemed to be a big conversation starter! 💀

-> I wish I included more goofy photos, candids, and photos with friends. I felt like I learned more about people with posts like that and felt more positive toward them than I did with a beautiful but curated array of selfies. Have fun and be a little real!

-> Ultimately I’m so glad I posted and reached out to people. A lot of my peers also reached out to me and I had already made a bunch of acquaintances by the time orientation rolled around.

So yes, it was excruciatingly embarrassing but so worth it, and gave me a chance to reflect on my interest and identity. <3
