not gatekeeping all these Swiss accoms under $200🤑

just came back from a 14 day road trip around Switzerland and I’m missing it so much!!! We set a budget of $200 per night for our accoms and I must say I think we did a pretty good job! It was days of scrolling Airbnb and Booking.con 🥲

📍Geneva ibis Petit Lancy

7.5/10

we stayed in Geneva for only 1 night so all we needed was bed + shower and ibis covers all the basic needs for the price! Being an Accor member also helped us to save a bit of costs 🤓

In Geneva, you’ll get free public transport passes when you stay in any of the city accomodations so don’t forget to ask the front desk for that! This was also one of the reasons we decided to stay slightly outside of the city centre 🤭

📍Bern Los Lorentes Apartments

10/10

I really loved this hotel because it has a mini kitchen in every room!! 🥹 kitchens are great because eating out in Switzerland is expensive, and next to the hotel is a supermarket! Other than the kitchen, the hotel was very modern and cosy too, and also a short 15 min bus ride to the city centre

📍Zurich Mercure Hotel

8/10

* we were upgraded!! If we had booked this hotel it would have been out of budget - we booked hotel Olympia their sister hotel initially 😅 but we really enjoyed our stay in Mercure, beds were comfy and there was even a TV in the bathroom 😂

There’s no free public transport passes in Zurich and it’s about 10 mins tram ride to the city centre which is about 8CHF for a 24h ticket!

📍 Lucern Airbnb studio with mountain view

9/10

-1 because it’s quite far out from Lucern city centre, about 20 mins train ride, as it is located in a little village called Dallenwil. The view from the balcony is one of the famous mountains Mt Titlis, and because it’s more in the countryside everything around is just so calm 😍 I really wanted to move in permanently 😂

📍Spiez 200yr old Swiss chalet in the mountain

This was to tick off a bucket list of mine to live in a Swiss hut in the mountains 🤭 & there was a hot tub as well 💕 but there’s a few disadvantages - it’s not located near any public transport, not very luggage friendly because of the unique location. And also if you’re not a fan of insects it can be a problem, some days there can be more around you especially during summer and rainy season 🫣 but other than that it really was a super amazing stay!

📍Zermatt “wake up to the Matterhorn” studio

10/10

Unblocked view of the Matterhorn from your balcony?! Sign me up! Well, I did and so should you! It’s a studio with all your basic needs covered, kitchen utensils TV - shower is quite tiny but no big issue really. Zermatt is a car free city so everywhere is within walking distance!
