I normally always bring a rolling carry-on bag but this time I challenged myself to only bring a personal item bag😆 I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off since I always seem to pack more clothes than I actually end up wearing. For this trip I only brought effortless and comfortable clothing that I really loved in colors that can easily mix and match. I also chose very simple items in low maintenance knit fabrics. Since I needed to pack super lite everything needed to be light weight. I also layered up on some items since we had a washing machine at our Airbnb.
What I brought:
1 dress
2 skirts
1 shorts
4 tops
1 swimsuit
2 sandals

I loved the accessories I got from Temu. Especially the cream braided sandals it was super soft and comfy. The swimsuit top was a bit too big so I had to adjust it but I knew it would be slightly too big from looking at their sizing chart. I just wanted the bottoms to fit perfectly and they did.
I used my pink tote bag that I purchased recently from Temu as my personal item(check out my Temu Vacation Essentials post) which held up surprisingly well for the trip. I also brought a small foldable backpack I got from the dollar store as my second backup bag.
My strategy was to bring cheap bags that I can easily toss in the trash if I needed to (if they somehow didn’t fit the bag sizer😆 Since they’re so cheap I also brought an extra bag incase a seam or handle popped.
We flew Frontier and they’re normally very aggressive about the bags. I’ve seen them charge people even when their bag fit but we didn’t have any issues.
I’m actually surprised how well it worked out and I didn’t feel like there was something I forgot to pack. I think I saved about $150 in Carry-on fees so I would definitely do this again for a weekend flight to a warm destination.
