Halloween cocktail recipe! 🔮 Spooky blue moon 🌙✨☁️

one thing about me that often surprises people: Halloween is my favorite holiday.

okay i know, it feels a little silly when we have so many other big, grand holidays!

but it has such a nostalgic feeling for me, as does the rest of the fall season, and so i always like to go all out like my family did when i was a kid.

which means, today we're taking an old classic cocktail, and putting a spooky spin on it! normally a blue moon cocktail would be garnished with a lemon twist, but i thought it would be much more festive to create a "foggy blue moon" by adding a little bit of dry ice 🌫

trust me when i say, your friends will be impressed with this one (and not just with the presentation, it has a delicious, lightly floral flavor too)!

ingredients

• 2 oz gin

• 1 oz creme de violette

• 1 oz simple syrup

• ice

• dry ice (optional, for garnish)

directions

1. add all the liquids and regular ice to a cocktail shaker.

2. shake for about thirty seconds, until the shaker is frosty on the outside.

3. pour into a coupe glass.

4. drop a small piece of dry ice into the middle of the drink (about the size of a marble or less) and enjoy the foggy show!

IMPORTANT NOTE: please make sure to use protective gear when handling dry ice (oven mits work well here, safety goggles as well if you need to break up the ice chunks). the best way to avoid touching the dry ice once it's in your drink is to wait until AFTER the dry ice has "melted" to enjoy your beverage to avoid burns. dry ice is fun, but must be handled carefully because it really is cold enough to burn you.
