Items you’ll never find in my closet

This is my first post on the Lemon app & I hope it reaches people who might find it inspiring 💛

After pondering for awhile over what my first post should be, I settled on this idea: showing what I’d never purchase or wear as a Theatrical Romantic in the Kibbe system.

If you’re not familiar with David Kibbe & his style system, I would totally recommend becoming acquainted with him, especially if you’re seeking to build a wardrobe that is authentically you. Personally speaking, my introduction to Kibbe radicalized my individual approach to fashion, helped me become a more conscious consumer, and solved every issue that repeatedly plagued my personal style journey in the past.

In high school, I had the worst relationship with my personal style. I would become inspired by, pin, and bookmark outfits similar to the ones above, yet, when I’d attempt to recreate them, I always hated my look. As opposed to looking put together, classy, fashionable, and dignified (like the creators in the inspo pics), I instead looked sloppy, incoherent, and utterly inauthentic. I desperately tried to solve the issue—rather that be through buying more clothes or blaming my annoyance on my perfectionism—to no avail.

So, when one day last year I stumbled upon the Kibbe system & found out that I’d been styling MY body completely contrary to its natural lines, it all made sense to me & I finally felt that years-long itch of frustration being scratched. Furthermore, that itch would’ve never been scratched without the Kibbe system because so many of his insights would’ve never naturally occurred to me otherwise.

•“Dressing for double curve”

I had no idea I had an hourglass figure until last year!

•It never occurred to me that certain shoes were too chunky for my small feet; I wore my Doc Martin sandals whilst hating the way they looked on me but not knowing why. & I would’ve NEVER worn heels had Kibbe not put me onto them.

•”Expensive fabrics”

I would’ve NEVER made the connection between my bones being delicate/fragile to, thus, my frame being naturally complimented by lavish fabrics. That insight from Kibbe was most mind-blowing of all.

Holistically, I would 1000% recommend every woman (who cares about fashion) to embark upon their Kibbe journey & let it revolutionize their personal style! :)
