books that had me in an absolute chokehold

I read these series when I was in high school and I swear to y’all… THESE are my Roman Empire.

- Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi - I read the entire series including the novellas in 6 days. I hardly slept because I was so enthralled with these chapters and their lives and I am absolutely in love with them to this day. I reread them at least once a year and have all my friends hooked too! If I could choose any one series to be made into word-for-word movies, it would be these. I would gladly sit through a 6 hour movie (per book…) if I got to see this come to life 😂💗

- Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater - I devoured these books during my sophomore year of high school. I remember reading another series by the same author (Shiver) and falling in love with her writing style. The books follow teenagers in a world that’s got a lot more secrets than they know, but they find them out! Forbidden love, escaping death, perfect.

- Flawed/Perfect duology by Cecelia Ahern- These books take place in a world not too different from ours, but the consequences for being a decent person, well, they’re pretty severe. No plot twists necessarily but the storytelling is phenomenal.
