Hi Zesties! 🍋

As you get older, do you have an achy back like me or you're just curious about how chiropractors work? Look no further as I'll be sharing my experience + costs and if it really works. Here's how the typical chiro journey is like:

1️⃣ The Trial - Cost: approx $50-60

At the trial, they will ask you to sign a waiver of liability and also ask basic questions if you visited a chiro before. The chiropractor will also explain how cracking the joints work and what actually causes the crack sound that you hear on TikTok. He will also ask about your main areas of concern and do very basic adjustments. But here I already felt instant relief which was why I decided to go for the x-ray.

2️⃣ X-ray Session - Cost: approx $200

To give more precise adjustments the chiro will ask you to get an x-ray at another clinic. This cost is inclusive of a x-ray consultation and another session after. To note, because chiros are not a recognized as a medical service in Singapore when you reach the x-ray clinic they will ask you to go on a teledoc to request for a x-ray referral and say you need it for something else (which is kinda sus ngl). 🤨

3️⃣ Choice of package

When you return to the chiro, they will evaluate your x-ray and talk about the issues that observed. After, you will be given a few choices of packages that you want depending on how severe your symptoms are. Like most services, they will advise you to come often at the start, for me it was weekly then it tapered off as things got better. The package I signed up for came up to approx 60-70 per session.

🤔 Why I went to a chiropractor

My backache got so bad that I couldn't sleep well. It felt like half my back was touching the bed, and the other half was barely off the bed. After a few bad nights of sleep and observing that prolonged standing made the ache worse, I decided to go to a chiropractor.

🤔 Did it work?

I felt immediate relief after the first session and got my first good night sleep in a while. My chiro also taught me some simple ways to improve my posture at home and did some maintenance adjustments. I did observe that my backaches got a lot better.

After 2 months, I stopped going because of the cost. I do experience minor aches from time to time, but not as bad as before. I'm not sure if it was a placebo, but it helped when i needed it. By simply correcting my posture, I realised I got a lot less aches. But I also observed that after the sessions my hunchback got a lot better as well. It's worth a try if you experience really bad aches, but on hindsight i personally felt that I didn't need the weekly maintenance sessions. I could've just gone with biweekly and save a lot of money! 💸
