JB HAIR HORROR STORY??? or redemption arc 🤨

today i’m gg to share my jb hair salon review… 💀

STORYTIME:

pt 1.

soo i dyed my hair this wine red-ish colour (2nd and 3rd pic) at home using dye + developer i bought online— one week later i went to jb and spontaneously decided to do a keratin treatment at ksl mall,, after passing by several salons and comparing prices, i chanced upon xtyle by style salon and saw that they had a super affordable keratin treatment for abt S$40– they also seemed pretty established since they owned multiple outlets in ksl under the names of xbs hair/nail salon, etc.

waahhh this is where it goes downhill… so when i went in they first brought me to wash my hair, the stylist asked me when i recently dyed my hair and made some small talk, it was all pretty chill,, afterwards he brought me two bottles with different types of treatment (one with a super pungent chocalate-ty smell at the price that i was initially offered, and a much milder and nicer smelling one at about S$10 more) i was a bit sus and taken aback that they didnt mention this sooner but i thought it was quite normal for them to try and encourage their customers to upgrade so i obliged and decided to get the more ex one. fast-forward and post-treatment i was SHOCKED. my hair colour was completely different, the red was basically non-existent (picture 4): the dark brown-red near my roots was a much lighter brown and the red at the bottom became purple… i was so angry omg then i asked them about it and they literally said (translated from chinese to english): “oh keratin treatment is like that one, the colour will confirm drop” BRO WHAT…??? why did no one provide this information to me… all the more they asked me beforehand when i dyed my hair and i told them a week ago, but they still went ahead with the treatment without informing me that the colour will fade significantly. i would still be okay if the colour faded slightly or they at least gave a warning but there was no such thing… i just sat there in disbelief… my friends later came to visit me and they were also in shock at how different the colour was. i began “complaining” to the staff and my friends also helped to chime in (thank you friends who helped 🙏) later on the manager/supervisor came and tried to explain the science behind the treatment, and also saying how i should have known, there’s nothing they can do about it, the colour would have faded to this in two to three weeks anyways, etc. mans had no idea what he was talking about btw because later on after i continued to stand my ground, he offered to get the stylist to dye my hair back to the original colour on the same day,, THANKFULLY one of the more senior stylists stopped him and explained that i can’t dye my hair immediately after the treatment because the colour would not transfer well (if at all) and will probably damage my hair even more— thank goodness otherwise i would have wasted another 1.5hrs and end up w the same result 💀 he then gave me a voucher/card for a free hair colour within 1 month from that day— anyw overall i was v upset with this treatment, not only did my hair colour fade by a lot, but a couple of days later when i washed my hair, it (quality and texture-wise) went back to pretty much the same as before…

pt 2.

FAST FORWARDD almost a month later i went back to redye my hair 😭😭 i know this was probably not a great idea since they already messed up my hair once… who knew what else could go wrong— i also read up the google reviews of thid place and q a few of them either looked fake or were negative,, however most of the positive reviews (w pics) were hair dyes and the negative ones were haircuts/perms so i decided to just go ahead since it was free anyways 😅~~

fortunately, it went SO MUCH BETTER this time. my only complaint would be that they didn’t really dye all the way up to the roots, but i’m not very sure if that was intentional or not 🤔🤔 maybe smth to do with the difference not being too stark when my hair grows out or because they just want to dye the hair that was present the previous hair appointment(??) regardless, i’m still quite happy with the result though i must say that the hair dyeing process was rather awkward,, one of the supervisors kept urging me to give them a good review throughout the process and after i was done, he stood there and lowkey didn’t allow me to leave until i left a google review… like not even kidding he clicked the 5 star button for me on my phone💀💀💀 but i wasn’t too affected by it anyw since i was overall happy with the outcome,, i just gave a very generic review and left LOL~~

anyways if you read all the way thank you 🙏 lesson learnt, extensively read up reviews before visiting hair salons in jb… don’t make spontaneous decisions when it comes to something that can be damaged so easily 😭😭 it was really partially my fault, i’m usually very meticulous in checking reviews and doing my research ++ i’m also super indecisive… except for this time :”” i think i was really swayed by the price too (it was basically 1/2 the price of some of the other salons,, fr too good to be true) and the seemingly credible appearance of the salon— soo here’s a reminder to be careful and to take care of yourself friends 😮‍💨🙏
