Vaginal Deodorant!?

Um so has anyone else been seeing these ads lately? Talking about deodorant that doesn’t just work for your pits but also for *down there.* I thought it was strange so I looked into it and apparently they’ve had “full body” deodorant for a while, it’s just the the bigger brands like Dove and Secret are making their own version now.

Apparently this brand, Lume, has been doing it for a while now, and brags that they were invented by an OBGYN. But I did some more digging to see if this deodorant that was supposedly okay for your vagina was real and actually okay…

Using a full body deodorant *down there* is NOT recommended (even though this is how

it’s advertised!) because…

It can disrupt your pH balance, irritate the sensitive skin, mask natural odors that may provide signs you need to be aware of, and it increases the risk of infections.

Instead of using full-body deodorants *down there*, please just focus on maintaining good hygiene practices, such as gentle cleansing with mild soap and water, wearing breathable cotton underwear, and avoiding tight-fitting clothing. And if you have true concerns about vaginal odor, consult with a healthcare professional!
