Soreness is not a good or bad thing. It is only an indication that your body did something that it’s not used to.

So should you be sore after every workout? Should you be striving for soreness?

Actually, no.

This is because you could get sore for many reasons. a) you do a workout that your body isn’t used to, b) you workout for the first time in a few weeks, or c) you could literally be sore from spending the entire weekend cleaning your couch

All those videos that advertise a workout as being “good” because it left them “so sore!” Is just clickbait. And ya, it will probably make you sore too, because it’s probably exercises that you don’t normally do. But just because it makes you sore doesn’t mean that it “burned more fat” or “built more muscle” than a workout that you didn’t get sore from.

So don’t always strive to be sore after a workout! You don’t need to be sore in order to deem a workout as “good.”

And the more often you do a movement, generally the less sore it’ll make you. But that doesn’t mean you have to change your workouts up if it’s no longer making you sore. In most cases it’s good to repeat a workout/movement in order to practice and get better at it.
