I TRIED THE BEST XLB IN SG??!!!

the other day i had an INTENSE craving for hong you chao shou, which are vinegar chili oil dumplings, which is why i headed down to get some the next day! i headed down to located at Chinatown Complex, which have been awarded the michelin plate. fun fact: this is in fact my third time visiting 😋😋😋

so here’s what we got:

🌟xiao long bao - $7.50 for 10🌟 9/10

these were so so affordable and yummy compared to din tai fung, and they were freshly handmade and steamed on the spot as you order them. the skin was perfectly , the meat filling was so juicy and fresh while the broth was super tasty as well. my only gripe was that the broth was slightlyyyyy on the sweeter side, but no complaints for the price

🌟hong you chao should/chili oil dumplings - $6.50 for 10🌟 10/10

this perfectly satisfied my cravings — the skin was silky, the meat was juicy and the chili oil coupled with the vinegar was the perfect blend of spicy and sour

🌟suan la tang/sour and spicy soup - $2.50🌟 - 8.5/10

i was craving something warm and soupy hence we ordered a bowl of the suan la tang, which was super affordable at just $2.50! despite the price, it was still very yummy and relatively generous with ingredients in every spoonful which i appreciated. it went really well with the other dishes we ordered

overall, i would give it a 9/10 for the meal as it was super yummy and affordable while not compromising on quality!

however, do note that the queues can get really long during peak meal hours, and i would recommend you to head there early before it sells out!

located in the heart of chinatown, it is pretty accessible and a short walk from both maxwell and chinatown mrt!

bonus:

🌟old amoy chendol🌟 8/10

the coconut milk was really fragrant, and coupled with the palm sugar syrup made it super yummy and refreshing. the syrup had a slight caramelly taste and the green noodles were soft with a slight hint of pandan!
