Cake for breakfast? Plus 23g protein per serving. Yes please😍
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 cup of oats
* 2 scoops (72g) of protein powder of choice (I use legion protein - code KAILI saves you $$)
* 3 Tbs of cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1 tsp of baking soda
* 8oz of apple sauce
* 3/4 cup of egg whites*
* 2-4 Tbs of water**
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a food processor or high powered blender add all try ingredients and blend to make flour.
2. Pour dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and add in apple sauce, egg whites and mix. If you’re using a plant based protein you may need to add a little bit of water to get a cake batter consistency.
3. Pour batter into a greased 8x8 baking dish or to bake into mini cakes pour batter into a nonstick silicone muffin top molds (I got mine from Amazon).
4. If baking in an 8x8 baking dish - bake at 350˚F for 15-20 minutes or until the center comes out clean with a toothpick. Cut into 4 equal squares. Enjoy!
5. If baking into mini cakes- bake at 350˚F for 12-15 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving. 3 mini cakes = 1 serving.
*if baked into one cake (8x8 baking dish): 1 square is a serving | this recipe makes 4 squares
*if baked into mini cakes: 3 mini cakes per serving | this recipe makes 4 servings

102 cal | 7.6g protein | 3.6g fat | 12g carbs
Macros + Cals Per Serving:
306 cal | 23g protein | 11g fat | 36g carbs
Notes:
*swap egg whites for 4 flax eggs (1 flax egg = 1 Tbs ground flax seeds + 3 Tbs water. Let sit for 5 mins)
** only add additional water if batter appears to be thick. Whey protein will not need additional liquid.
