The Feather Blade — Your next date spot

Part 2 of celebrating my boyfriend’s 24th birthday

For the birthday dinner, I decided to take him to The Feather Blade. Out of the 3 options for dining I presented him, this was the one he ultimately chose. And he does not regret it!

We ordered the Double Feasting Set Menu for 2, and the price starts at $145. Here’s what we ordered and what we think of them:

🍽️DRINKS: Beefy Old Fashioned and Kyoho Grape Sangria

• The Beefy Old Fashioned was strong, even for a seasoned drinker like my boyfriend. So, great for people who like their drinks strong

• The Kyoho Grape Sangria was a dream to drink. It’s fruity notes and red wine in it really paired well with the steak served. I would order this drink again.

🍽️DECADENTS: Miso Scallops and Crab Brioche (+$3)

• The Miso Scallops were plump and fresh. As my boyfriend puts it, “just like the ones I had in Japan”. Each bite was bursting with umami juices filling your palate.

• The Crab Brioche was a crowd favorite. The crunchy, toasted, and buttery brioche perfectly complemented the soft, flavorful crab. It was very flavorful and we both loved it.

🍽️MAINS: 2 Wagyu Steaks (+$11 each)

• The Wagyu Steaks were cooked to perfection, as to be expected from a place that specializes in steaks. We ordered our steaks medium rare and they delivered. The meat was tender and juicy, it was a delight in every bite. However, we realised we had to season the steak more with salt and pepper to maximize enjoyment.

🍽️SIDES: 2 Potatoes

• After eating this, I realised I don’t want to have fries with steak anymore. The potatoes were topped with a dill sauce and ikura. Every bite of potatoes were complemented with the freshness of the dill sauce, and the ikura popped in your mouth providing even more depth to the dish.

🍽️SAUCES: Sichuan Peppercorn and Bearnaise

• My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the Sichuan Peppercorn sauce, as he’s a lover of everything spicy. Personally, it was too spicy for me but I could definitely see the appeal

• The Bearnaise Sauce was fatty and went together with the steak in perfect harmony

🍽️DESSERT: Tiramisu

• I love tiramisu, however I felt that this tiramisu was a little dry sadly. It was lacking in the creaminess that I was used to with other tiramisus. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but not the best I’ve ever had

OVERALL

I paid $200 flat overall with all the upgrades and including GST and service charge. I believe it was money well spent as the service was amazing. The staff were very friendly and extremely attentive to you. Furthermore, the food was definitely of high quality. The only downside was it could get pretty noisy inside during dinner time, and I struggled to hear my boyfriend speak at times. So if you’re looking for a quiet and intimate venue, this is not it for you. But if you’re looking for great food at a reasonable price and don’t mind the ambience, head down to The Feather Blade for your next date!
