After my previous post about why and how you should always negotiate for content fees, I got quite a number of DMs asking me how to do it 🙋‍♀️ As mentioned, rate cards are impt. Today I’ll be breaking down what’s in my rate card and how I developed mine:

☁️ Understand the basics: Influencer Tiers

Let’s face it: brands are looking at numbers. Unlike UGC, influencer marketing means that your number of followers and engagement matters 💫

There are 5 tiers: nano, micro, mid, macro and mega (ref to pic). The bigger the number, the higher the engagement and reach – unless of course, these are bot followers.

☁️ Basics: PR vs Paid

Please don’t charge every single thing AHAH. There's a fundamental difference between PR and paid collaborations.

Personally, I share PR packages on my Instagram Stories (which is usually what brands expect), and if I genuinely appreciate a product, I'll create a full post. If I don't resonate with the product, I choose not to promote it, simply because I wanna maintain the trust with my followers. If a brand insists on mandatory posts, refer back to this guide

⚠️ A Note on Charging Fees:

TBH, knowing how much to charge was difficult for me – simply because there’s no public baseline among Singaporean creators. The most accessible reference I found was a 2021 rate card by Yahoo. While there are online resources available, most of these are calculated in USD.

For some context and transparency: my very first paid project came when I had around 10K followers on TikTok, and I was offered $300 for a set of four videos. With the knowledge I have now, of course, I realised I was lowballed HAHA 🤡🥵 BUT, it was my very first paid project so I was super excited and I just accepted it. But once again, when another project came, I lowballed myself because of the rate card I made… LOLOLOL…It was only after joining Hepmil and interning at TSL that I gained insights into the media industry and realized the possible rates. From that point onwards, I adjusted my rates but ensured they were reasonable, considering that I do not have the same credibility and following as prominent brands.

How much exactly should you charge? 🤨 Again, I don’t have all the answers because the resources I’ve seen are limited. But, if you’re at 10k followers (on tt or IG), tbh you can safely charge between $250 to $500 per post (taking into account the average engagement on your platform). For those that fall under the micro tier, you can definitely still charge for a post but it has to be a realistic fee. For those in the mid and macro, I’ve seen four digit rates (though it might not always be the case as I’ve shared here!).

☁️ What’s in my rate card

I created a comprehensive media kit, which includes my rate card and breaks down the fees for each type of post.

✅ Introduction

This is just to let the brand know who I am and what accounts I’m running.

✅ Platform charges

ATM, my deck is divided into: Instagram, TikTok and Lemon8. Each platform has different charges because I have different followings for each!

For IG, my rates are sectioned as IG (carousel) posts, reels, and stories. PLUS, a combined package for brands that want double posting and loading fees.

✅ Platform statistics

The primary reason my rate card takes the form of a deck rather than a single page is that I incorporate examples and statistics. This approach allows me to justify my rates to brands with concrete data.

Some statistics include – audience demographics, top countries, highest liked posts.
