NETFLIX MUST WATCH: Japanese edition!

I would like to share a list of Japanese anime and drama that I have been enjoying so far!

For context, I’m generally drawn towards shows that are either comedy or thriller themed as I found it easier for me to follow through the plot line.

1. Tokyo Swindlers (2024)

This show got me hooked from the first half of episode one. I appreciated explanation on the individual characters and their expert criminal abilities which contributed to a successful land swindler crime ring.

With only 7 episodes, the story gives viewers insights on how fraud can occur when transacting high value real estate in Tokyo.

2. My Home Hero (2023)

Animation was done quite well and storyline was heart warming as it shows how far parents would go to protect their child.

The plot follows the main protagonist, who is a father of a teenager and accidentally commits murder to ensure her daughter’s safety from a yakuza.

3. The Way of the Househusband (2021)

This anime is absolutely hysterical! I just love how an ex-yakuza transformed into a househusband and walks around in a Shiba Inu apron while hunting for cheap discounts in grocery stores. As a former yakuza, the protagonist has no idea that some of the terms and phrases he uses can be misconstrued as threats to normal people. I will definitely read the manga soon!

4. House of Ninjas (2024)

An action packed series that follows a family of Ninjas set in modern Japan. I found it fascinating as it describes the family way of life and secrets while undertaking task from the government to fight crime.

The cinematic was beautifully done and had some comedic moments.
