Why I don’t have a car anymore 😙

I got my first car in November 22’ and I was seventeen. I bought it from my uncle for $2000. It was a 2003 Mazda 3 (if I remember correctly). I loved this car and I still do. It had a lot of miles on it when I bought it but it ran well. I got in a wreck in march of 2023. Unfortunately I rear ended someone but in my defense, they slammed on the brakes out of no where (because the car in front of her did so).

About a week later I got a 2006 VW Passat. It seemed good enough, I brought my dad with me to inspect it because I didn’t know anything about cars at the time. It was okay then all of a sudden it started having issues. I took it to the shop and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it because the electrical system was broken. There weren’t any places around to fix the electrical so I let it slide. Then the coolant started leaking. They found they needed to replace the radiator so now with the price of the car ($2500) and that repair (~$1000) I have no money in savings. They fixed the radiator but told me something else was wrong (that they didn’t see before so maybe they broke it?) but they couldn’t fix it. Both of the catalytic converters went out so I took it to a European shop who quoted me $8k. Since I had no money left I said no and scrapped the car, especially since it wasn’t even worth $8k.

Now I ride an E-bike to school and work. It’s not the safest because I live in a big city but it’s working for now. I feel kinda better because I’m doing less harm to the environment. I know I’m only one person but I feel every little thing can help.
