**Trigger Warning!**

This was my second emergency C-section, but it was the most terrifying experience and the reason I don't want any more children. I had hoped for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) this time. My doctor and I had meticulously mapped out my birth plan. I was determined to go into labor naturally, trying everything possible for a week, but nothing worked. Finally, I decided to relax with a bath.

Two days later, at 2 am, I rolled over in bed and heard a pop, followed by a gush of fluid. At first, I lay there, unsure if it was another false alarm. But then I felt liquid running down my leg and rushed to the bathroom, only to discover it was blood. This being my first time going into labor naturally, I didn't know what to expect. I immediately texted my mom to meet us at the hospital to take care of my daughter.

I woke my husband, and we quickly got our daughter up and rushed to the hospital. The whole way there, I could only think about my baby and the blood soaking the car seat. At the emergency room, they took me to labor and delivery within five minutes. A doctor, not mine, came in, saw the blood, and immediately diagnosed a placenta abruption, calling for an emergency C-section.

A team of 5-6 nurses swarmed in, prepping my husband and me in a flurry of activity. Shaking with fear, I was wheeled into the OR while my husband had to wait outside. They gave me a spinal tap instead of an epidural, and I began hyperventilating. The medical team worked to calm me down before starting the procedure. Another doctor, who was from my doctor's office but not my doctor, took over. Finally, my husband was allowed in, and the surgery began.

I was still panicking when they delivered my baby boy. The moment I heard his cry, I burst into tears. They closed me up and moved us back upstairs. Later, the doctor told me I had arrived just in time—my placenta was in terrible shape. I thank God every day for saving my child and me.
