How I Published A Book

1. First start with an Outline:

I had an idea of what I wanted to write, but creating character and chapter outlines helps put the ideas down. That way no second guessing comes into play and it is just the thoughts.

2. Taking Progress Photos

This helped me get an idea of how much I was writing and at what rate. If my schedule needed to change, this was how I would be able to re-evaluate it.

3. Celebrate the Small Things

Even if it was just one chapter or 200 pages, the small things helped me keep my motivation up. Just because one is not pushing out five books a year and progressing like other accomplished authors does not mean the progress made is nothing. Everyone has their own path in writing, so just take your own.

4. Just Write

Stopping to edit too much can hinder the flow of the book. Just write everything down. Your first draft is you telling yourself the story, so write three to four drafts to make your story morph into the world you want.

5. Be patient with yourself

Like I’ve said already, it is hard to not compare to other authors. Despite that, I had to learn to be patient with myself and my characters. I’d find myself frustrated that it took me two years to even get to this stage, but I had to think about it from my character’s perspective. It takes time for your own life story to develop, so be patient because this is just your character’s life story developing.

6. After Two Years

My trial ebook was ready. I had already had a few beta readers for the first few drafts, now that the final draft was done, I could send it out as a trial. The ebook was just to get some eyes towards the story in general.

7. Printing Error Edits

After another month, the physical book was coming out. I will always recommend getting your own copy of the book ahead of time to map out any printing errors or errors that may have gotten past you.
