I let my kids be bored, here’s why…

I’m a parent who will let my kids be bored. We stick to a regular schedule with structured activities throughout the day, but they need to experience boredom for their own benefit. I, myself, am not a fan of being bored but when I am it motivates me to do something I enjoy. Children may have a harder time coping with boredom but over time they will figure it out and it’ll only help them in the long run!🥰

Here are the benefits of letting your children experiment boredom:

🪁 Encourages creativity: Boredom helps children come up with their own solutions to being bored. It encourages them to come up with their own games or activities to pass the time.

🪁 Problem solving skills: Children are encouraged to find their own source of entertainment and find ways to engage with their environment on their own.

🪁 Fosters independence: Managing boredom helps children become more self-reliant and confident in their abilities to problem solve without help.

🪁 Improves focus: Periods of boredom help enhance attentions spans and stay focused when they’re in an environment or situation that isn’t very stimulating.

🪁 Fosters emotional resilience: Boredom helps children learn practice patience which helps built their emotional resilience.

🪁 Grows imagination: Unstructured time allows children to think freely, dream, and create as they please. This helps grow and drive their imagination!

🪁 Appreciation for play: Being bored can help children appreciate the play they’ll experience later on.

🪁 Self discovery: Being bored can help kids discover new hobbies and activities. Children have the opportunity to try and find new interests!
