On your path to spiritual enlightenment and a holistic lifestyle, you will encounter plenty of book recommendations. Some will help you release past trauma and do the shadow work, others will help you develop a shift in thinking and action, and many will leave you with thoughts and reflections with no instruction on how to implement these teaching into your daily life.

I have been practicing yoga and breathwork for 10 years and teaching for 3. I’ve read many books. Here are my favorite books to recommend to the aspiring yogi and holistic lifestyle lover. These books offer knowledge, guidance, and instruction for the person seeking healing, renewal, and restoration in their life.

πŸ“— MY FAVORITE YOGA BOOKSπŸ“š

πŸ“– Name of the Book: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

πŸ“ Author: Deepak Chopra

πŸ’ My Thoughts: Written by one of the more prolific minds of our time and advocate for mindful living, Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success captures key actions and mindsets to assume a life of wonder, abundance, and peace. It is so simple and so incredibly profound. I found it to be a very easy and quick read.

⭐ Star Rating: 4.5/5

πŸ“– Name of the Book: The Yamas & Niyamas

πŸ“ Author: Deborah Adele

πŸ’ My Thoughts: This book is like bible of Yoga and frame how you exist in relationship to the world around you and your inner world. I love that each chapter includes reflection questions you are encouraged to explore after reading the chapter. This is a book I read at least twice a year and always get something new out of.

⭐ Star Rating: 5/5

πŸ“– Name of the Book: Peace is Every Step

πŸ“ Author: Thich Nhat Hanh

πŸ’ My Thoughts: Tiny sweet bites of life, reflections, and words of wisdom from the late and honorable Thich Nhat Hanh. Through digestible anecdotes of life experiences and meaningful connection, Thich Nhat Hanh explore what it means to find peace in every moment no matter how difficult or even joyful.

⭐ Star Rating: 4.2/5

πŸ“– Name of the Book: My Grandmother’s Hands

πŸ“ Author: Resmaa Menakem

πŸ’ My Thoughts: I pick this one up and put it down again, and pick it up and put it down again, not because it isn’t good, it’s because it’s that good. This book is raw, dense, and bold. If you are ready to change your life and see the world in a way that permanently removes the rose-colored glasses, you must read My Grandmother’s Hands. I’ve learned hot to connect with my body, resolve trauma, and understand the actions of others without hatred and blame.

⭐ Star Rating: 4.8/5

πŸ“– Name of the Book: Yoga Anatomy

πŸ“ Author: Leslie Kaminoff & Amy Matthews

πŸ’ My Thoughts: Do you know your body? Do you know that every body is a different body and nobody’s body moves the same everyday? This is a practical book that explores how our bodies move in yoga asanas and what physiological reactions take place when we move. Have fun exploring what your bum is doing in downward facing dog and what muscles you need to strengthen to hold a handstand. I’d say this is a semi-difficult read because it’s so academic.
