🍡non-touristy in tokyo: japanese school festival🎊

if you’ve been following me on lemon8 or tiktok, i’ve actually been living in japan! i’m currently working here and it’s been about a year🥹 the best part is that my weekends are pretty free to explore japan, so thought i’ll jot down my travels along the way✨

last saturday i went to TOKYO UNIVERSITY to see their annual school festival, due to covid it hadn’t been up for 2-3 years but this is the first time in awhile that they can hold it physically!! feel free to jot the date down so you can definitely check it out next year🎓😆

since it’s open to the public, it’s free entry!! there’s a bunch of live performances by the different student clubs (flamenco, school bands) they even sang anime songs🎶 the variety of food was surprisingly cos they had japanese, french, chinese and western foods! i got the yakiniku and desserts, most of it was 300¥ each. there’s designated eating areas but it’s alright to walk and eat (i know there’s the unspoken rule but honestly everyone was doing it) there’s garbage areas too so as long as u don’t litter, it’s all good🍡🍣

every club was showcasing their work e.g. calligraphy, robotics and even horse riding! like you can ride a horse🐎

i ended off with the band performance in their lovely performance hall!! you can’t take picture or videos of them performing cos it’s like a japanese thing? even some concerts they don’t let you, so it’s best to follow the rules in this case💓
